#ProjectProgress: Highland Ave Project

We recently visited our #HighlandAveProject to check up on how things are coming along and we’re excited to share some of the progress! Everything is coming together beautifully for all three of the home’s bathroom renovations–tile and plumbing fixtures are all in and we’re just waiting on a few of the finishing touches for completion.

Master Bathroom:

Cool grays and sleek whites gave the master bathroom a clean, modern update. We love the multi-toned marble penny rounds on the shower floor and the darker accents in the hardware and light fixtures provide just the right amount of contrast.

Guest Bathroom:

We can’t get enough of these gorgeously patterned cement tiles that perfectly complement the gray medley shower tile!

Powder room:

For the powder room we chose to play with a pop of fun, contrasting colors and patterns. We love the blue starburst cement tiles and how the detail of the burl wood looks against this wallpaper. A small space that certainly packs a punch!

A few finishing touches with accessories and styling and these beauties will be good to go! Stay tuned for the final reveal 🙂

(Black) Friday Inspiration: How WE Spend Black Friday

Most people spend Black Friday pushing through lines, fighting for the best deal, and kick starting their holiday shopping. We prefer to spend Black Friday cozied up on our couches, looking for inspiration, while still winding down from the Thanksgiving food coma. Here are a few of our kind of Black Friday inspiration images; spaces that use black and dark colors for a comfy, cozy, perfect-for-avoiding-the-crowds-and-staying-at-home feel.

On Trend: High Point Market Recap

It’s been just over a month since we got back from our first High Point Market experience and we wanted to share our thoughts and a recap on some of the things we saw and loved! High Point was an exciting, eye-opening, eventful, learning experience for our company and we’re so glad that we finally got the opportunity to attend.  Of course, Market is all about seeing new (and old!) products as well as highlighting the upcoming trends in the design world–here are some of the trends we noticed ourselves!

Natural and woven materials. We noticed a plethora of rattans, sea grass, woven water hyacinth, woods, beads, shells, jute and other natural fibers in everything from furniture and light fixtures to rugs and pillows. We love this trend because it adds textural elements and depth to a space in a fun & organic way.

Emphasis on the Game Room. Many showrooms highlighted awesome pieces that would make for a standout game room. Often, people think of a game room as an afterthought that gets stuck in the basement, but we loved seeing unique ping pong tables, shuffleboards and foosball tables that were made to spark conversation. (We especially loved this because we’re just wrapping up a fun game room at one of our projects, and our wheels are always turning for our next restaurant or bar project–any takers?!)

Animal artwork and photography. We love seeing animals as the subject of choice for artwork–whether it’s a fun abstracted painting or a stunning black and white portrait. We were thrilled to discover a few new great options for sourcing artwork, all of which had lots of beautiful animal artwork to choose from!

Lucite accents. Lucite adds a modern twist and a touch of glam to any space, yet is versatile enough to complement a variety of different design styles. We were thrilled to see lucite on furniture pieces, mirrors, light fixtures, and hardware all throughout market.

Color trend: Dark hunter & olive greens. Dark greens were definitely a trend as upholstery for furniture as well as on pillows and rugs and even in a lot of artwork. We were inspired by dark green upholstered accent chairs so much so that we just used them in one of our recent designs!

Relaxed & vintage looking fabrics and wall coverings. We saw a lot of vintage looking fabrics, relaxed linens, vintage rugs, and globally inspired textiles and materials used traditionally as upholstery and pillows–but we really loved seeing these materials framed as unique art pieces!

Friday Inspiration: Thanksgiving Tablescapes

It’s Friday before Thanksgiving and with a busy week of travel and holiday prep ahead, we wanted to share a few of our favorite tablescapes to serve as inspiration to those who are hosting. A few trends that we’re loving are brass or gold flatware, pops of greenery and subtle floral palettes, as well as mixing in different patterns and textures at each setting. Simple finishing touches like these will be sure to leave your guests talking about more than just how good your food was!

Sneak Peek–North Fork Photoshoots

What a whirlwind of a summer and fall it’s been–(we can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week?!) but we’ve been busy in the office with lots of fun projects going on, including wrapping up and photographing four homes over the course of three days on the North Fork. We’re working hard to get all of this new content up on our website, but here’s a quick sneak peek of what’s to come!

Day 1: #AldrichLaneProject, Mattituck NY

This gorgeous property overlooking the Long Island Sound was a second home-turned- permanent-residence that features sleek furniture and fixtures and incorporates pops of fun, saturated colors to give our client the clean, contemporary look they were hoping for in their new home. (Check back here to see some of our initial inspiration for this home!)

Day 2: #ShelterIslandHomeProject, Shelter Island NY

This cozy little home on Shelter Island makes for the perfect beach retreat, layered with fun patterns and textures that give off some seriously summery vibes. (We painted the kitchen island in this home Sherwin Williams “Inky Blue” which we highlighted as a pick of the week!)

Day 3 (part one): #PineNeckProject, Southold NY

We removed a wall that separated the kitchen and living room to create a space for more open and seamless entertainment–complete with a custom bar area– and freshened it up with light and bright finishes. (Check back here to see this home while it was still a work in process–we couldn’t be happier with the final product!)

Day 3 (part two): #SigsbeeRoadProject, Mattituck NY

This fun beach cottage overlooking Peconic Bay is a home that was designed with family in mind and where sandy feet are welcomed. Mixing in modern materials and finishes gave our clients the updated home they desired for the perfect coastal getaway. (We loved the brass hexagon hardware in the kitchen of this home so much that we featured it as one of our picks of the week as well!)

Check back on the website soon to see the final reveal of these and more!
